Former UNC Basketball player Cam Johnson had an impressive game as his team prepares for the restart of the NBA season.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Phoenix Suns played their final scrimmage game prior to the restart of the NBA season. After a big performance, former UNC Basketball standout Cameron Johnson showed that he’s ready for the games that count.

Johnson scored 19 points on 6-12 shooting to help lead the Suns to victory over the Toronto Raptors. Along with his 19 points, the 24-year-old also posted four rebounds, three assistants and three steals.

As we saw during his time in Chapel Hill, Johnson is a very good three-point shooter. In this exhibition contest, the former Tar Heel drained four three-pointers.

Prior to the season being suspended, Johnson appeared in 49 regular season contests. Currently, the rookie is averaging 8.1 points-per-game while playing a little over 20 minutes per game.

Johnson is one of nine former Tar Heels competing as the NBA season resumes in Orlando, Florida. Based on the current standings, the Suns are a long-shot to advance to this year’s playoffs, but the extra game experience will definitely benefit Johnson down the road.

If Johnson continues this high level play, expect the Suns to find a bigger role for him in the future and make the franchise feel even better about the pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Johnson and the Suns will begin their restart on July 31st, taking on the Washington Wizards at 4 p.m. EST.
