Welcome to a new segment for Keeping It Heel just in time for the New Year!

Starting on Friday, we will introduce our “Tar Heels Tidbits” article every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning.

The idea is that when you’re up grabbing that cup of coffee, having breakfast or on the commute to work, you’ll be caught up on the latest news regarding the University of North Carolina Ta Heels athletics.

We will break down the latest including stories from Keeping It Heel and around the web to keep you update.

There might be a few tweaks here and there, so bear with us. Let’s get started.

Larry Fedora will appear on College Football Playoff show

Larry Fedora and the Tar Heels won’t play in a bowl this year, but the head coach will be making an appearance on CFP Coaches Film Room. The special show airs during the National Championship Game and features college coaches breaking down the game as it goes.

Fedora will be joined by Matt Luke, Gary Patterson, Brett Bielema, Dino Babers and Dana Holgorsen.

Broadcasters for UNC-Wake Forest

The Tar Heels open their Atlantic Coast Conference schedule on Saturday afternoon hosting Wake Forest in the Dean Dome.

The game will air on ESPN2 and on Thursday it was announced who will be on the call.

Speaking of ACC play….

Questions and what we’ve learned

In case you missed it we wrote on five questions we have for the Tar Heels as they hit ACC play on Saturday as well as what we’ve learned through nonconference play.

Both articles are good reads on what to expect moving forward.

Coby White is on fire

Not literally, but he’s certainly playing very well this week.

White and Greenfield High School are participating in the John Wall Holiday Invitational being held in Raleigh this week. The 2018 UNC commit dropped 46 points on Wednesday and 32 on Thursday.

Oh, Theo Pinson, Brandon Robinson and Garrison Brooks were all in attendance for the Thursday night session.

Julius Peppers is cashing in on the sacks

The former UNC star is cashing in not only on his sacks total but for a bonus as well as the Panthers head into the playoffs.

We wrote on Peppers’ bonuses from Thursday as the team prepares for a Week 17 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Shea Rush was in the spotlight for his hats last season but now this season he’s…..

Draining long trick shots in the Dean Dome. Don’t believe us? Check out this video that Rush shared via Twitter on a shot from the Dean Dome rafters.

Holiday tournament scores

The Tar Heels have a few recruits and targets participating in Holiday Tournaments this week in different states. Here’s how UNC commits and targets performed on Thursday:

  • Class of 2019 target Wendell Moore dropped 32 points in a Cox Mill win at the Beach Ball Classic.
  • Moore’s teammate and 2018 UNC signee Rechon Black scored 6 points on Thursday. He put up 19 in the win on Tuesday.
  • Nassir Little scored 18 points in Orlando Christian Prep’s win on Wednesday at the Kingdom of the Sun Tournament. But they fell short on Thursday night losing to Rockledge.

Danny Green’s big night

Former UNC standout Danny Green scored 15 points in the San Antonio Spurs win over the New York Knicks on Thursday night. All 15 of his points came on three-point shots as he went 5-for-8 from behind the three-point line.

Green has the most games with 5+ three-pointers made in Spurs history with 35, beating out Manu Ginobili who has 30.

Green continues to play well this season for the Spurs and could find himself breaking more franchise marks.

Next: Zion Williamson to make a decision soon?
