Coby White puts on a show in the first game of the John Wall Holiday Invitational

The John Wall Invitational is the premier holiday tournament in the state of North Carolina as it’s being held this week in Raleigh, North Carolina.

This year’s tournament features the top recruit in the 2019 class with Vernon Carey Jr.

It also features one of the top players in the 2018 class in University of North Carolina commit Coby White.

White and his Greenfield High School teammates are participating in the tournament, playing their first game on Wednesday against Kinston High School in the David West Bracket.

It’s only day one of the tournament, but already White has put his stamp on it.

White scored 46 points in Greenfield’s 85-63 win over Kinston as he put on a show for the in-state crowd.

The guard scored 27 points in the first half and followed it up with a 19-point second half to help seal the deal.

He’s only one game in but has already etched his name into the tournament’s history book.  With his 46 points, White tied Penny Hardaway for the fourth-most points scored in the historic tournament.

White’s performance included an 18-point second quarter performance with a long three-pointer at the buzzer.

The win for Greenfield advances them to take on Broughton High School Thursday afternoon with a tip time set for 1:45 p.m. ET.

White is currently a composite five-star recruit and ranked as the No. 26 player in the nation according to 247 Sports’ rankings. He’s ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina.

If he continues his hot play this season, he will certainly move up in the class rankings as he prepares to arrive at Chapel Hill next year.
