Former North Carolina point guard reunited with teammate in New York

Former North Carolina point guard Nate Britt was recently spotted at the Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina for the Tar Heels’ game against Patriot League powerhouse Bucknell.

Britt did interviews and fielded questions, all while watching a really competitive game on the court that went down to the final minutes of regulation. The Tar Heels would eventually win, but the pesky Bison, who will likely be an NCAA Tournament team by season’s end, simply would not go away.

More from Tar Heels in the Pros

Britt hasn’t had much luck sticking with a team since the Tar Heels’ national championship run in 2017, though he was a participant in the NBA Summer League with the Atlanta Hawks.

But now it appears that Britt will have another opportunity to get some playing time and showcase his abilities. And he’ll do it alongside a friend and former teammate from the 2017 national title-winning Tar Heels.

On Thursday, the Westchester Knicks of the NBA G-League announced that Britt would be joining the team. The move was made after current Westchester guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes left the team to join Canada in the FIBA World Cup Basketball Qualifiers.

With Britt now a member of the New York Knicks’ G-League affiliate, he joins former North Carolina big man Isaiah Hicks.

Hicks has been a nice addition to Westchester, averaging 15.8 points, nine rebounds and one assist in just over 32 minutes per game. His best game came last week when he scored 35 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in a 97-95 loss to the Grand Rapids Drive.

Britt will now look to duplicate the success that his former running mate has seen with Westchester.

Britt, Hicks and the 3-3 Westchester Knicks will take the court on Friday night when they face off against Marcus Paige and the 2-2 Greensboro Swarm.
