Class of 2018 commits sign with Tar Heels

On Wednesday, the Tar Heels signed what is, to this point, the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation.

Class of 2018 prospects Nassir Little, Coby White and Rechon Black all signed letters of intent to attend the University of North Carolina next fall.

White and Black held ceremonies at their respective high schools, while Little mailed his letter and plans to hold a small ceremony for friends and family at his school on Saturday.

“These three young men make my staff and me feel very fortunate and pleased with this class,” said North Carolina head coach Roy Williams.

Little, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound wing, averaged 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists per game as a junior, leading Orlando Christian Prep to the Class 3A state title.

He’s the No. 9 prospect in the 2018 class according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s ranked fourth among small forwards in the class and he’s the No. 2 player in the state of Florida.

White is a 6-foot-4, 170-pound North Carolina native that had an impressive junior season for Greenfield School, leading his team to a 23-11 record and an appearance in the North Carolina Independent Schools’ 1A semifinal. He was subsequently named an NCISAA 1A all-state pick after averaging 31.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game.

247Sports ranks White as the No. 23 player in the 2018 class. He’s considered the third-best player at his position and the No. 1 player in the state of North Carolina.

Black is a 6-foot-7, 180-pound point guard from Concord, North Carolina who spent last season at Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida. He moved home for his senior season to attend Cox Mill High School, where he will be closer to his family and surrounding community.

Black is currently the No. 62 prospect in the class of 2018 according to 247Sports. He’s considered a top-15 point guard in the class and top-5 player in the state of North Carolina.
