Class of 2018’s No. 1 shooting guard set to announce top 3 schools

The top shooting guard in the class of 2018 is wrapping up his recruitment, and could make a decision sooner than originally anticipated.

Romeo Langford, a product of New Albany High School in New Albany, Indiana, is fresh off of a visit to the University of Kansas, and now plans to cut his list of schools to just three.

More from UNC Basketball

He’s now taken official visits to Kansas, Indiana, North Carolina, UCLA and Vanderbilt, which also appear to be the five schools most heavily involved with him at this time.

Roy Williams and the North Carolina coaching staff have spent a lot of time and effort on Langford over the past year, but it looks as if Kansas and Indiana have got the edge in his recruitment.

Before his visit with the Jayhawks last weekend, Langford was in Bloomington, Indiana for Hoosier Hysteria. His time spent there appears to have moved the Hoosiers to the front of the line.

Once Langford cuts his list down to three, Kansas and Indiana will definitely fill two of the spots. My assumption is that North Carolina will be the third team, dropping UCLA and Vanderbilt from contention.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball currently has Indiana as the most likely landing spot for Langford, which projects the Hoosiers as an 80 percent favorite to land the talented guard.

Langford’s ability to move with or without the ball, attack the paint and hit shots from the perimeter are the hallmark of his game, and what makes him such a hot commodity coming out of high school.

At 6-foot-5 and 190-pounds, he has good size for his position and will match up very well with opposing guards at the collegiate level. His strength and athleticism should allow him to compete against bigger opponents, if necessary.

He averaged 28.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and more than two blocks per game in leading New Albany to a 25-4 record and an appearance in the regional final.

Langford is the No. 5 prospect in the class of 2018 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s the No. 1 shooting guard in his class and the top player in the state of Indiana.
