Longtime North Carolina target has decided to expand his recruitment

Class of 2019 prospect Wendell Moore recently attended the University of North Carolina’s Late Night with Roy, an event that marks the unofficial start of the college basketball season for the Tar Heels and their fans.

Long considered a strong North Carolina lean, Moore recently informed the Tar Heels’ coaching staff that he was “expanding his recruitment”.

And according to a report by Clint Jackson of Tar Heel Illustrated, it’s not just because of the scholarship offer that Duke recently extended the talented wing.

To the surprise of many, the five-star small forward also attended North Carolina State’s Primetime with the Pack last weekend. NC State has been recruiting Moore since he was in middle school, but most thought that his interest was primarily invested into the Wolfpack’s two crosstown rivals.

Moore’s father told Tar Heel Illustrated that his son is still considering North Carolina, but wants to “go through the process and see some options”. He also stated that his son is currently interested in taking official visits to Duke, NC State, Stanford and Wake Forest.

Moore is a 6-foot-5, 210-pound small forward out of Cox Mill High School. He’s the No. 22 prospect in the class of 2019 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s a top-10 player at his position and the No. 2 prospect in the state of North Carolina.

He currently holds scholarship offers from nearly a dozen schools including Duke, Florida, Florida State, Maryland, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Syracuse and Tennessee.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball still projects North Carolina as an 88 percent favorite to land Moore, but look for the pendulum to swing away from the Tar Heels in the coming months. For the time being, it certainly appears as if his recruitment is wide open.
