Roy Williams targets a pair of elite recruits in the class of 2019

The North Carolina men’s basketball program is fresh off of a 33-win, national championship season, but don’t bother telling that to Roy Williams.

Williams’ seemingly endless search for elite talent continues on Tuesday in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. The Hall-of-Fame head coach will be in town to visit a pair of top-10 prospects from the class of 2019.

More from UNC Basketball

Scottie Lewis and Bryan Antoine, natives of Eatontown, New Jersey, are highly regarded juniors at Ranney School. Lewis and Antoine represent the top two players in the state, and are quickly becoming a couple of the more sought after prospects in the nation.

Lewis, a 6-foot-5, 177-pound small forward, is an athletic wing with good speed and leaping ability. He’s a good ball handler and rebounder, particularly for his position. He’s excellent on the fast break, and finishes well in traffic, and above the rim. He can hit shots from all over the court and his game should translate nicely to the college level.

Lewis is currently the No. 6 prospect in the class of 2019 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s the No. 1 small forward in the class and the top player in the state of New Jersey.

He’s received more than 20 scholarship offers, including ones from Arizona, Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Notre Dame and Villanova.

Antoine is a 6-foot-4, 175-pound combo guard with great speed and athleticism. He’s a good ball handler and passer, and his court vision helps find easy buckets for open teammates. Not only does Antoine have the ability to play very quickly and lead the fast break, but he also finishes extremely well in the lane. He’s also a tremendous dunker for his size and position.

Antoine is the No. 7 prospect in the class, coming in just one spot below Lewis. He’s the No. 1 combo guard in the class and second only to Lewis in the state of New Jersey.

Antoine is currently fielding offers from a number a big name programs including Arizona, Duke, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Notre Dame and Villanova.

As you can see, there is commonality to the programs recruiting these two players. It’s a decent bet that both Lewis and Antoine end up at the same school in a couple of years.
