Former UNC Basketball players will play in the 2017 NBA Summer League

The 2017 NBA Draft has come and gone, with two University of North Carolina Tar Heels players being selected in the first round.

With the draft over and NBA Free Agency starting on July 1, the NBA Summer League is also approaching.

The four-team Utah Jazz Summer League will tipoff next week and a familiar face will be playing for the Jazz.

Tony Bradley Jr. was officially named to the Jazz Summer League roster after being selected with the 28th overall pick. Bradley will join a pretty talented Jazz roster including Dante Exum, Donovan Mitchell and Nigel Williams Gross.

The Jazz will take on the San Antonio Spurs on July 3rd to help tipoff action, following up the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics game. Utah will also play on July 5 vs. Philadelphia and July 6th vs. Boston.

But Bradley wont be the only former Tar Heel player to participate in a Summer League.

Jackson will play for the Sacramento Kings in the Las Vegas Summer League, joining a loaded roster of talent that includes De’Aaron Fox, Harry Giles and Frank Mason.

Isaiah Hicks, Kennedy Meeks and Nate Britt all went undrafted this year but they will play in the NBA Summer League.

Britt was officially named to the Atlanta Hawks Summer League roster and will play with the team as he tries to earn a roster spot.

Meeks announced via Twitter that he was signing with the Toronto Raptors and was named to their roster for the Summer League. He joins OG Anunoby, Fred Van Vleet and Jakob Poeltl among others on the roster.

The Raptors will open up play on July 7th against the New Orleans Pelicans.

While those four players wont have any former teammates on their roster, that isn’t the case for Hicks.

He reached a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers shortly after the draft and will play with former UNC teammate Brice Johnson in the Summer League.

Both players were named to the Clippers Summer League roster. The two spent three years at North Carolina together, reaching the 2016 National Championship Game.

Johnson will be making his second appearance on the Clippers Summer League team, playing for them in 2016. He missed the majority of the 2016-17 season with an injury and then was assigned to the G-League.
