The NCAA allows future first round games to be played in the state of North Carolina. What does this mean for the Tar Heels in the future?

If you have been living in a cave the past few weeks and missed it, North Carolina won its sixth National Championship this year.

On Tuesday, the NCAA made winning future titles just a tad bit easier.

The state of North Carolina’s HB2 bill took the first two rounds out of Greensboro, North Carolina in 2017 and moved them to Greenville, South Carolina.

A move that cost Duke a sweet sixteen and almost did the same for the Tar Heels.

With the repeal of HB2, the NCAA made a huge announcement for the state of North Carolina and its economy.

The first two rounds of the tournament will be held in Greensboro in 2020 and in Raleigh in 2021. This is in addition to the NCAA deciding to keep the tournament in Charlotte for 2018.

This big news comes after the ACC agreed to allow the state to host future title games including returning the ACC Football Championship back to Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

This news also opens the possibility of Charlotte hosting the College Football Playoff Championship game in the future as well.

So why is this big news for the Tar Heels?

The University of North Carolina has only lost one NCAA tournament game in the state of North Carolina in the tournament.

That means if they get the honor to play in either of the three sites it is almost an automatic run to the Sweet Sixteen.

As anyone is aware, once in the Sweet Sixteen, anybody is just four wins away from another National title.

That is a huge advantage for future Tar Heel squads.

Things might finally be turning the Tar Heels way, which is great news as the academic scandal is in its eighth year and counting. Maybe a little bling really was all the Tar Heels needed after all.
