UNC fans took to Twitter to react to the Tar Heels earning a number one seed for the 2017 NCAA Tournament

In case you missed it, the North Carolina Tar Heels were named as the number one seed in the South Region.

It’s the 16th time UNC has earned a number one overall seed, the most among any team in college basketball history.

In each of the Tar Heels seven times they have earned a number one seed under Roy Williams, they have advanced to the Elite 8.

Going into Selection Sunday there was some speculation that UNC might lose its spot on the number one line and Duke might move up to number one.

Instead, the Tar Heels earned the one seed and Duke climbed to the two seed.

As soon as the announcement was made, Twitter users were quick to offer their thoughts about the Tar Heels.

Most of them, as you can imagine, were positive ones as the Tar Heels look to return to the Final Four again.

Let’s take a look at some of the reaction we saw on Twitter coming from UNC fans:

Right off the bat looking at the region and the two teams other than UNC that stand out are (2) Kentucky and (3) UCLA.

If the Tar Heels reach the Elite 8, they could meet either the Wildcats or Bruins. Both of those teams are playing very well going into the tournament.

The Tar Heels and Wildcats already played back in December for the CBS Sports Classic in Las Vegas. The Wildcats won the thriller led by Malik Monk’s 47 points.

But if UNC and either UK or UCLA play, it could provide a classic matchup for the NCAA Tournament:

We even asked UNC fans how they felt about the region via Twitter and there seems to be a lot of confidence:

UNC and Texas Southern will tipoff on Friday and the winner will advance to Sunday’s second round in Greenville, South Carolina.
