Looking back at Tyler Hansbrough’s 5 best moments at UNC
By Reece Helms
1. 2009 NCAA Champion
Out of everything Tyler Hansbrough accomplished in his four years in Chapel Hill, winning the 2009 NCAA championship was his best moment. And I’m sure he would agree.
A championship was the missing piece heading into his senior year, and everyone on the team knew that.
The 2008-2009 North Carolina team did not disappoint, finishing the season 34-4 en route to their 5th championship in school history. Here are the highlights from their 89-72 championship victory over Michigan State:
Tyler Hansbrough had 18 points and 7 rebounds in the title game, finishing his career on a high note.
After the game, Roy Williams had this to say about his championship team:
"“I feel like it was fitting for us to do what this group just accomplished. Roy Williams is not that good. But boy, ol’ Roy’s got some big-time players. That’s what it takes. I desperately wanted this championship for that young man (Tyler Hansbrough). I know it’s corny, but that’s who I am.”"

In 2008 Tyler Hansbrough and the Tar Heels suffered an embarrassing loss to Kansas in the Final Four. But the core of the team came back in 2009 with one goal, to win a national championship, and they came through with a national title.
“Sounds like I made a pretty great decision, (to come back) nothing beats this feeling right here,” Hansbrough said after the game. “Out of all that I have accomplished these past four years, this is by far the best.”
