The real biggest reason that this rivalry is the greatest in all of basketball? The fans. In no NBA stadium or other college basketball arena will you find a more passionate group of fans than the Cameron Crazies, a group known for their insane enthusiasm and desire to sleep out in the cold, in the sleet/snow and in the rain to get tickets to UNC-Duke.

Carolina’s Dean E. Smith Center fits 21,750 according to Wikipedia, and every time Duke takes on the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill, it seems like twice as many fix into the area.

These two fan bases are among the most passionate in all of sports, and they are what really make this rivalry the greatest in basketball.
