Remember during the offseason when Will Wade tossed some shade at Hubert Davis? Of course you do, as the NC State head coach bashed UNC basketball a little bit for not playing Ven-Allen Lubin enough during the 2025-26 season. Unfortunately, Wade is back to his old tricks.
Will Wade takes another ridiculous shot at UNC and Hubert Davis over Ven-Allen Lubin
On Sunday night, he once again raised eyebrows with some UNC/Davis shade that truly came in from out of nowhere. People had forgotten about Wade's comments from the summer, but to kind of double down on things? Yeah, the UNC faithful are not happy about this and something tells us Davis and his players are going to be extra motivated to take down the Wolfpack when they meet in February.
Will Wade is giving UNC basketball extra motivation to take down NC State
"Second game he's picked up a foul before the first media," Wade said following a recent NC State win. "That's made him more timid cause he's not used to playing for a coach that won't foul him out by sitting him on the bench. Thought he was great tonight."
Wade just wants to keep bringing this up, yeah? Hey, Will, how about you worry about your own team and let Davis handle his business.
Think the UNC head coach is going to like seeing these comments from Wade? Probably not. For the first time since 1919, NC State won't be making the short trip to Chapel Hill for a hoops showdown. Instead, these two teams will only be playing once this campaign, with that contest scheduled for Feb. 27, 2026 in Raleigh.
The Lenovo Center is going to be packed for that one, as the Wolfpack are going to want to send a statement at home against their in-state rivals. With Wade already talking some trash like this, it's only going to give the UNC locker room another reason to silence the crowd on hand, plus Wade. Come February, let's see if Wade is made to eat his words, as UNC and Davis would love to make that happen.
