For the second consecutive year, Major League Baseball has elected to host the MLB Spring Breakout Games.

The four-day event showcases the future of baseball with games between the best prospects in each farm system. These games are played across various Grapefruit and Cactus League ballparks.

After being selected in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft, former UNC baseball star Vance Honeycutt is participating in this year's event for the Baltimore Orioles, as he made quite the introduction in a game against the New York Yankees' top minor league talents.

Honeycutt roped a 1-1 pitch into the left centerfield gap, a ball that landed on the warning track just out of the reach of a lunging Spencer Jones (the Yankees center fielder). As Diamond Heels fans can attest, Honeycutt put the jets on, hustling his way around the bases for the inside-the-park home run.

How's that for a big-time statement!

Honeycutt is a five-tool player who can impact the game both offensively and defensively. An elite defensive center fielder, Honeycutt is also lethal with the bat, as he showcased his power early and often throughout his UNC baseball career.

Oh yeah, let's not forget about his above-average speed!

The former Tar Heel is showing why he is viewed as a top-five prospect in the Orioles farm system, as competing in big-time opportunities is something he simply thrives with.

Just pull up his highlight reel from last year's run to Omaha. Honeycutt is no stranger to connecting on some clutch hits at the plate, especially with regard to hitting the ball out of the ballpark.

While he likely enjoys jogging around the bases after a home run, Honeycutt has the speed to earn a round tripper the hard way as well.
