The undisputed ACC champs are here!

After winning the ACC regular season title, the UNC women's lacrosse program proved it is the best team in the country, adding an ACC Tournament title to its resume. The No. 1-seeded Tar Heels defeated No. 2 Boston College to secure the program's eighth ACC Tournament title, the most by any ACC school.

It was a nail-biting game throughout, as the two top-ranked teams in the country traded blows. The first half was a back-and-forth affair, as the score was tied at five after one quarter of play while the score was knotted up at seven at the end of the first half.

North Carolina got themselves into a bit of trouble early in the second half, as Boston College outscored the Tar Heels 4-2 over the first 20 minutes of the half to take an 11-9 lead. Trailing at any point in the second half isn't something the UNC women's lacrosse team, as this marked just the third time all season that they faced a second half deficit.

However, the deficit wouldn't last for long, as North Carolina tied the game in a span of 2:10. Caroline Godine scored the goal to cut the Boston College lead to one, while Addison Pattillo found the back of the net to even up the score once again.

From there, the Tar Heels took control. Marissa White's 34th goal of the season put North Carolina back on top, while Kate Levy provided a much-needed insurance goal, capping off the Tar Heels' 4-0 run. Boston College would cut the lead to one with just 1:13 remaining, but a Chloe Humphrey goal for the team in Carolina Blue secured the victory.

This is a huge win in many ways for the UNC women's lacrosse program. It marks the first time they've won the ACC Tournament since 2022, denying Boston College of an opportunity to complete a three-peat in the process. Not only did the Tar Heels earn some revenge against the Eagles, but also stamped their ticket as the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Let's face it: this likely won't be the last time these two programs square off before the season comes to a close.
