The University of National Champions!

For the first time since 2022, and the fourth time in the history of the program, the UNC women's lacrosse team finished off an undefeated season by defeating Northwestern in the 2025 National Championship game.

What a season it was for Jenny Levy and the Tar Heels. It will go down as one of the most dominant seasons in not only North Carolina history but also in the history of women's lacrosse.

Similar to the NCAA Tournament semifinals, North Carolina found itself down 1-0 early. However, this resilient group found a way to take control, as Chloe Humphrey knotted up the score at 1 while Kate Levy scored the goal that put North Carolina ahead.

Caroline Godine put the Tar Heels up 3-1 at the 2:02 mark of the first quarter, giving them a cushion they simply wouldn't relish.

While Northwestern battled in an effort to get back into the game, North Carolina wouldn't let them get close. A stretch of three goals in 43 seconds essentially sealed the deal, leading the UNC women's lacrosse team to achieve the history they were chasing.

It's fitting that the Humphrey sisters were very active in this one. Chloe led the team with four goals, while Ashley Humphrey had four assists. Eliza Osburn and Olivia Vergano also contributed multi-goal performances in the victory.

The UNC women's lacrosse team has reached the pinnacle of the sport once again, as it's been a long time coming since their last title back in 2022. North Carolina is back on track, as this special group of individuals put together a season that Tar Heel fans will remember for quite some time.

It's ALWAYS A GREAT DAY TO BE A TAR HEEL!
