After one quarter of play in Friday afternoon's NCAA Tournament Semifinals, Florida led North Carolina by a score of 4-2.
If you only watched the first 15 minutes of the game, you simply won't believe the dominance that the UNC women's lacrosse team put together over the final three quarters of play.
The Tar Heels scored 18, yes, 18, consecutive unanswered goals en route to a blowout victory over the Gators. With the win, North Carolina advances to the NCAA title game for the first time since 2022.
From the second quarter on, the UNC women's lacrosse team essentially flipped a switch. The Tar Heels put together a ferocious offensive attack and complemented it with a stifling defensive approach, as Florida essentially couldn't find a way to even gain control of the ball to set up their own offensive attack.
The star offensively for North Carolina was redshirt freshman Chloe Humphrey. While all three Humphrey sisters scored points in this contest, it was the youngest who made quite the impression in her first Final Four appearance.
Humphrey scored seven goals, setting a new program record for goals in a single-season, adding to her already insane first season on campus.
While Chloe is the new single-season goal leader, her big sister, Ashley, also broke a record in this game. She now holds the program record for most points in a single-season, playing a vital role in facilitating on the offensive side of the ball for the Tar Heels.
While it's difficult to even put into words how dominant of an effort the UNC women's lacrosse program put together, it serves as simply another reminder of just how special this team is. Now, they are one win away from their ultimate goal, as they will take on the winner of the other semifinal game between Boston College and Northwestern in Sunday afternoon's NCAA title game.
