After a year plagued by injuries, the UNC women's basketball program will be without two key contributors as they kick off the 2024-2025 season.

The UNC women's basketball will unfortunately be without two key contributors as they open up the 2024-2025 season on Monday morning.

Our friends at Chapel Thrill shared the news that both Indya Nivar and Kayla McPherson are not in uniform. Nivar was seen with a boot on her foot, while McPherson was just seen in street clothes.

Nivar was a key contributor (mostly as a reserve) in her first season with the UNC women's basketball program a season ago, as her absence is one that is definitely concerning as we begin the new season. McPherson has been hampered by injuries during her time in Chapel Hill, as she's only been able to play in 20 games over the last two seasons.

After dealing with a ton of injuries a season ago, the hope was that North Carolina would have a clean bill of health at least to begin the season. However, the injury bug continues to impact the program, as the hope is that it doesn't continue moving forward.

While the absence of Nivar and McPherson is disappointing, the good news is the likes of Ciera Toomey and Laila Hull (who redshirted a season ago) and Reniya Kelly are all suited up and seem to be available to play in the opener.

The UNC women's basketball program begins the 2024-2025 season on Monday morning with a non-conference matchup with Charleston Southern at Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
