As first reported by Brandon Clay of 247Sports, five-star point guard Kate Harpring is making an official visit to see Courtney Banghart and the UNC women's basketball program.
The last name may sound familiar to those who follow professional basketball. That's because Kate's father, Matt, was a former Georgia Tech star who was a first-round pick in the 1998 NBA Draft and played 11 seasons in the league for four different franchises.
The basketball skill set has certainly been passed down to Kate, who is viewed as a five-star talent entering her senior year of high school. In fact, Harpring is viewed as the top-ranked point guard in her class and the No. 2 overall prospect (according to ESPN HoopGurlz).
Plenty of schools have shown interest in Harpring, and rightly so. North Carolina seems to be one of the handful of programs that the rising senior has strong interest in, as the hope is that her official visit to Chapel Hill helps put the Tar Heels in a position to be a very strong contender to land her by the time her recruitment comes to a close.
