Following two double-digit victories over the first week of the 2024-2025 college basketball season, the UNC women's basketball program has moved up one spot in the latest AP Top 25 poll.

North Carolina is the third-highest ranked team from the Atlantic Coast Conference, trailing only Norte Dame (No. 6) and NC State (who dropped four spots to No. 13). Duke (who dropped five spots to No. 16), Louisville (who dropped one spot to No. 18), and Stanford (No. 24) are the other ACC schools that earned spots among the top 25 teams.

The UNC women's basketball program has a big-time matchup on the schedule this week. Courtney Banghart and the Tar Heels will take on Geno Auriemma and the No. 2 ranked UConn Huskies in a neutral site game on Friday night in Greensboro, North Carolina.

If the Tar Heels can find a way to win that game, expect them to jump up the rankings even further a week from now.

While the media focus will be on Friday night's top-25 duel, North Carolina will also take on North Carolina A&T in Greensboro on Tuesday night. These two contests will serve as the final tune-up for the UNC women's basketball program before they head to Paradise Island for the Battle 4 Atlantis event on November 23.
