This past week goes to show just how good this UNC women's basketball team is.
Following a massive top-10 victory over NC State last Sunday, the Tar Heels faced some tough challenges this week, especially being shorthanded.
The week started with a trip to Syracuse on Thursday night, a game that the UNC women's basketball program ended with a hard-fought victory. Their toughest challenge of the week came on Sunday, as Louisville went up by as many as 12 points against the then-ranked No. 9 Tar Heels.
Even without Alyssa Ustby and Ciera Toomey, North Carolina still found a way to storm back for the victory.
Following two impressive victories, the UNC women's basketball program moved up to No. 8 in this week's AP Top 25 ranking.

The Tar Heels are the second-highest ranked ACC team behind Notre Dame, who slipped two spots to No. 3. NC State, who just upset the Fighting Irish in double-overtime, moved up four spots to No. 9 in this week's poll.
If you're curious as to where the team from Durham is ranked, they dropped five spots to No. 16 ahead of their clash with the UNC women's basketball program on Thursday night.
Heading into the final week of the regular season, there's still plenty for this team to play for. Not only do they hope to end the regular season on a strong note but aim to build momentum leading into the ACC Tournament, as the goal to host games at Carmichael Arena for the upcoming NCAA Tournament is still very much a possibility.
It's time the country starts taking notice of what Courtney Banghart and the Tar Heels are accomplishing this season. This group is in the midst of putting together a special season.
