UNC Women's Basketball finally gets some respect in the AP Top 25 poll!
After sitting at No. 16 in the AP Top 25 Poll for consecutive weeks, the UNC women's basketball program has finally moved up in the rankings!
North Carolina moved up two spots to No. 14 on this week's rankings. This jump comes after the Tar Heels defeated Kentucky (who was ranked No. 14 a week ago) in rather dominant fashion.
It was frustrating to see the Tar Heels get no love over the last two weeks, as they arguably have been one of the best teams in the entire country over the first stretch of the 2024-2025 season. Riding a six-game winning streak, the UNC women's basketball team has won some quality games, including the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament during Thanksgiving week.
It's good to see that the voter are starting to put some more respect on the Tar Heels name, as we mentioned last week that a strong performance against Kentucky should help their case once this week's rankings were revealed. While it's nice to move up the rankings, the Tar Heels still have plenty of work to do as their goal is to continue their winning streak for as long as they possibly can.
The UNC women's basketball program will take the court once again on Wednesday night as they host UNC Greensboro in some non-conference action. North Carolina will then begin ACC play when they host Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon at Carmichael Arena.
