For the first time since the 2014-2015 season, the UNC women's basketball program has earned the right to host NCAA Tournament games!
The Tar Heels claimed the No. 3 overall seed in the Birmingham Region. Carmichael Arena will host the first and second round matchups for the Chapel Hill Bracket, one that features West Virginia, Oregon State and the winner of the play-in game between Columbia and Washington.

North Carolina's NCAA Tournament journey begins with a matchup against Oregon State on Saturday. The No. 14-seeded Beavers come into the matchup with a 19-15 overall record.
In terms of the rest of the bracket, it's a rather competitive one to say the least. South Carolina claimed the top seed in this region, while Duke claimed the No. 2 ranking among this group.
Yes, that means that North Carolina and Duke would meet for a fourth time this season if both programs advance to the Sweet 16.
However, if we see some upsets in this region, former Tar Heel Deja Kelly might get a crack at her former team. Kelly and the Oregon Ducks are the No. 10 seed and will be heading to Duke as part of the Durham region. They'll take on Vanderbilt in the first round with the hope of seeing the Blue Devils in the second round on their agenda.
A lot of storylines could brew from this region!
Although the end of the season was impacted due, in large part, to injuries, the committee didn't let that impact how they felt about this Tar Heels team. They've been on the cusp of hosting over the last few seasons but finally have earned the opportunity, as Courtney Banghart's team put together a special season that is very much deserving of this honor.
Tar Heel fans, get ready: we'll see you at Carmichael Arena this week!
