UNC Women's Basketball drops in the AP Top 25 poll following loss to UConn

It was expected that the UNC women's basketball program would drop a bit following a loss (even though it was to the No. 2-ranked team in the country!).

Following a loss to No. 2-ranked UConn, the UNC women's basketball program fell two spots in the latest AP Top 25 poll.

After holding down the No. 14 spot a week ago, the Tar Heels now claim the No. 16 spot on the list. The top 12 spots remained the same while the rest of the rankings were a lot different than a week prior.

Notre Dame still is the highest-ranked ACC team at No. 6, while Duke jumped North Carolina, sitting at No. 14 overall. NC State (No. 20) and Louisville (No. 24) each dropped seven spots while Stanford, Florida State, and Miami all received votes.

The Tar Heels could be in line to face another top-25 team in the very near future, as a potential duel with No. 18-ranked Baylor could be on the horizon at the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. Regardless of whether or not that matchup occurs, the Tar Heels will host currently ranked No. 15 Kentucky in the annual ACC/SEC Challenge on December 5 in Chapel Hill.
