The UNC women's basketball program strikes again on the 2025 recruiting trail!

The latest commitment to Courtney Banghart and the Tar Heels comes from Taissa Queiroz, a four-star talent who is ranked by ESPN HoopGurlz as the No. 76 overall-ranked player in the Class of 2025.

A forward from Brazil, Queiroz chose the Tar Heels over her other five finalists: Kansas State, Utah, Washington, Colorado and Gonzaga. She becomes the third player to commit to the UNC women's basketball program from this class, following five-star talents Nyla Brooks and Taliyah Henderson.

While she'll officially join the team next fall, Queiroz will get a jump start on her college career. She plans on graduating high school early, as the plan is to enroll at North Carolina in time for the start of the spring semester.

In an interview with Talia Goodman of On3, Queiroz discussed what made the University of North Carolina stand out during her recruitment.

“My family and I had so much fun on the visit. I love the energy of coach [Courtney] Banghart. She’s an incredible woman, and I think she’s gonna help me a lot to develop as a player, but at the same time as a woman.

I think all of her assistant coaches and her staff, they showed me on the official visit, not just around me, but being around with the girls, that they are great people, and they just want the best for their players. It was wonderful for me. It was really great to be at UNC, and now I’ll be a part of the family.”

With three commits from this current class, it will be interesting to see if the Tar Heels have any more moves up their sleeves before this recruiting cycle comes to an end. From the class already shapes up, this has the makings of being one of the best recruiting classes that the nation has to offer.
