After the impressive win over Syracuse on the road, there's no time to celebrate for North Carolina and Hubert Davis, as No. 21 Louisville is making its way to town for a Monday night showdown. This should be a close contest and fans are hopeful another W will be on the way.
Henri Veesaar left no doubt for his status for UNC vs. Louisville in primetime
Things are not going to be easy, though, as 5-star freshman Caleb Wilson remains sidelined due to the fracture in his left hand. Despite getting Henri Veesaar back, that doesn't mean Vegas is high on UNC taking down the Cardinals. Per the FanDuel sportsbook, the Tar Heels are actually home underdogs for this one, with Louisville favored by 2.5 points.
Caleb Wilson will remain sidelined for North Carolina vs. Louisville
From our chair, there's no question North Carolina would be favored for this Top 25 showdown if Wilson was at full health. Unfortunately, that's not the case and the Heels will have to go to battle without him in the lineup - Wilson will be cheering his teammates on from the bench.
In some positive news for UNC, Veesaar was able to return over the weekend, which was a bit of a surprise after he missed most of practice during the week. However, his limited session on Friday afternoon opened the door for him to play.
Against the Cardinals, Veesaar will once again need to deliver, as he posted a team-high 19 points in the win over the Orange. Jarin Stevenson, Seth Trimble, Luka Bogavac and others will need to up their game too if Davis and Co. want to record another win.
As for Wilson, there's still no set timeline for when he'll be able to get back on the practice floor. However, it was reported that Wilson will undergo further testing this week. After that, North Carolina will get a better idea of when he'll return to the lineup. Yes, he won't be in action against Louisville, but the hope for a lot of fans is that Wilson can get himself in uniform by the time the ACC Tournament arrives.
