The 2025 season didn't go nearly as planned for the UNC football program.

After a crazy offseason, one that featured the hiring of legendary head coach Bill Belichick, a boatload of roster moves (both incoming and outgoing), along with the typical craziness that programs face during the offseason, expectations were sky-high in Chapel Hill for the start of this new era.

However, the results on the field didn't translate, proving that there's still plenty of work to be done in Chapel Hill.

One of the very few bright spots for this UNC football team, Jordan Shipp, had a breakout season, recording 60 catches for 671 yards and six scores. Even while playing in an offense that struggled mightily to throw the football, Shipp still produced at a high level, bursting onto the scene after a freshman season in which he was used sparingly.

Jordan Shipp has the right mindset heading into the offseason

Following a brutal loss to NC State on Saturday night, the star wide receiver spoke to the media not only about the loss but the 2025 season as a whole.

His mindset heading into the offseason is exactly what UNC football fans will want to hear.

"It's not like we're starting back from square one like we did back in December," Shipp said. "We have a foundation set that we need to keep building on. The good thing about the bottom is it's sturdy enough to build off of."

Wise words from the sophomore wide receiver!

Shipp provides insight on his future

Without a doubt, Shipp ranks at the top (or near the top) of every UNC fans wishlist of players to keep in Chapel Hill this offseason.

With the way the transfer portal has turned college athletics into free agency, there's no doubt that Shipp could go out on the open market, find a role on a championship-caliber team and make a lot of money in the process.

However, when asked about his future and whether he expects to be back at North Carolina next season, Shipp didn't hesitate to answer definitively.

"Of course."

It seems that Jordan Shipp is fully invested on turning this ship around.
