Why the hold up?
Honestly, this recruitment has been rather quiet throughout.
There's been rumors and speculation as to why it has dragged out a bit, but that hasn't stopped Hubert Davis and North Carolina from putting on the full-court press to bring him to Chapel Hill.
Throughout the process, essentially all of the finalists appeared as "favorites" at one point. For Baylor, they were pulling away leading into the middle of January, while Penn State was always considered a heavy contender given his brother is currently a freshman for the Nittany Lions.
After his official visit to UNC, the Tar Heels appeared to gain serious momentum, and have ever since put in the effort to ensure that it doesn't go away.
What's the feeling here?
Of course, there's been plenty of twists and turns in this particular recruitment. However, based on what we know on the situation, it does feel like it would be an upset if North Carolina doesn't win this recruiting battle.
Mingo fits what UNC is looking for in a combo-guard, as he has the skillset to be a near perfect fit in Chapel Hill. The coaching staff has stressed that throughout the recruitment process, as a commitment from Mingo would give the Tar Heels a very strong two-man 2026 recruiting class.
Now, all eyes on Dylan Mingo as the decision is drawing news.
