It's safe to say that Year 1 of the Bill Belichick era with North Carolina did not go according to plan. The Tar Heels didn't live up to the hype, but Belichick has loaded up with his 2026 class and it sure feels like better days are coming this fall.
With North Carolina's schedule getting released on Monday night too, there's plenty of reason to be excited for next campaign. However, some folks are dunking on the program for a silly reason? That's the case, as a quick look on social media shows people claiming UNC got some conference favoritism due to all their games being on Saturdays, with no action on Thursday or Friday. Please.

North Carolina football's schedule release has people excited for the 2026 season to get here
We understand people wanting to try and get in some shots on Belichick, but this is a weird reason to lose sleep. If anything, this is the way that college football should be. Call us old fashioned, but we think football games deserve to be played on a Saturday, and not on a Thursday or Friday night.
We can sympathize a bit with Miami fans, as they have four games on a non-Saturday next season, including the first three weeks of the new campaign. That's a bit brutal and again, we understand why some members of the Miami faithful might be ticked off.
Having said that, and it's not Miami fans going after Belichick, no one should be mad at the Tar Heels for the way the schedule shaped out. Also, North Carolina isn't going to worry about the outside noise that is coming in from out of nowhere.
Instead, the hope is the Tar Heels will hit the weight room hard this winter and show signs of improvement during spring ball. Quarterback Billy Edwards is going to push for the starting job after transferring in from Wisconsin. Plenty of eyes will be on him throughout spring ball, while the pressure will be on Belichick and his staff to make sure the bad memories from '25 get wiped away thanks to a promising '26.
