WHAT. A. COMEBACK!

The UNC basketball program dug itself in a hole but found its way out in heroic style, securing a much-needed victory over No. 14-ranked Virginia on Saturday afternoon.

Charlottesville has been a "House of Horrors" for the Tar Heels, who lost 8 of their previous 9 games there. However, this group found a way to put together an insane comeback effort, one that just might turn around the trajectory of the 2025-2026 season.

Early on, it was all Virginia. The Cavaliers built up a 16-point lead in the first half, as North Carolina struggled mightily on the boards. A 7-0 run to close out the half cut the deficit to 9, one that was much more manageable to overcome.

Once the second half got underway, the Tar Heels turned it up a notch. They went on to outscore the host Cavaliers 51-37 over the final 20 minutes of play, led by an insane second-half showing from Jarin Stevenson.

Stevenson has his signature Tar Heel Moment

The junior forward scored 17 second half points on 6-9 shooting, providing an outstanding effort off the bench. In fact, he made it impossible for Hubert Davis to take him off the floor, providing a spark on both ends of the floor.

Bogavac and Dixon

Bogavac was another reserve who provided a huge spark, scoring 14 points while knocking down three shots from beyond-the-arc. Derek Dixon showed the potential he has as the future point guard for the UNC basketball program, adding 11 points to go along with seven assists.

Other notables

Caleb Wilson poured in 20 points, none bigger he scored in the final minute that essentially sealed the deal for North Carolina. Seth Trimble had a strong outing, arguably his best game since he's returned from injury, knocking down five of his six shot attempts for 16 points to go along with five rebounds.

What's Next?

North Carolina will now have a week off before heading to Georgia Tech. The week off will be much more positive following this insane comeback win over a top-25 foe on the road.
