If you're still celebrating UNC landing Virginia Tech transfer Neoklis Avdalas, you're not alone. This was the first portal commitment for new head coach Michael Malone, but it's safe to say that he's just getting started. Could another splash be on the way soon?
Jarin Stevenson provided the update that UNC fans were anxious to hear
That's what 247Sports Basketball Analyst Travis Branham thinks could end up being the case. While speaking with North Carolina great John Henson not long after the Avdalas update dropped, Branham didn't hesitate in saying the Tar Heels are still 'big-game hunting' in the transfer portal, with the Heels' strong interest for targets including Juke Harris, Terrence Brown and others.
#UNC isn’t close to done in the portal.

247Sports national analyst Travis Branham had the latest scoop on new Tar Heel targets.
Plus what to expect from Neo Avdalas.
“Next year, we could look like idiots with where he’s ranked right now (No. 22)…” 🔥https://t.co/3WCS4nuW1w
UNC is very much in the hunt to potentially land Wake Forest transfer Juke Harris
"Terrence Brown, a bucket getter out of Utah - they met with Juke Harris I believe it was yesterday (Sunday) afternoon," Branham said. "(He's) one of the best scorers in the portal, the most improved player in the ACC this year. So, they're big-game hunting."
That's certainly an update the UNC faithful don't mind seeing. With Harris in particular, he's at the top of the wishlist for a lot of people, as he's coming off a sensational season in the ACC with Wake Forest, averaging more than 21 points per game.
He's also a North Carolina product, so the thought of him staying close to home and suiting up for the Tar Heels is something plenty of people have on their minds. For now, Michigan seems like the main competition for UNC here, but Tennessee is also working to get him to commit as well.
As for Brown, he's currently on a visit to Chapel Hill as of this writing and he's been quite active on social media posting some pretty great photos of his trip. Could this lead to a potential verbal pledge before he says goodbye to Malone? That's something to keep an eye on.
Brown would also be a fantastic get, as he averaged nearly 20 points per contest for the Utes last season. In a perfect world, both Brown and Harris will suit up for Carolina next season, while Arkansas transfer Karter Knox is another transfer we have our eyes on.
From our chair, it feels like Malone getting Avdalas on board is going to be the first of many touted targets who give UNC the news they're hoping for. The roster is slowly but surely getting filled out and with Malone being aggressive in the portal, even more good news could be around the corner. All this positivity surrounding the program? Goodness, it sure feels good.
