The UNC basketball program is definitely missing senior captain Seth Trimble.

While the Tar Heels have a 3-1 record in the games he's missed due to a left arm injury, it's evident that North Carolina is much better when No. 7 is available to take the court.

We've all been waiting for an update on Trimble's progress, one that head coach Hubert Davis provided on Monday afternoon ahead of the UNC basketball program's ACC/SEC Challenge battle against Kentucky on Tuesday night in Lexington.

Seth Trimble Injury Update: Hubert Davis provides great news on UNC guard

According to Davis, Trimble is "progressing fast" from his fractured forearm. While no timetable for his return has been revealed, it's important to note that he is already shooting and dribbling, along with doing conditioning work as well.

That seems like a very positive update!

Even though we'd all love to see Trimble back sooner rather than later, the UNC basketball program won't rush his timetable. Currently in his final season at North Carolina, Trimble must be itching to get back on the court, but that will only come when the doctors clear him for full takeoff.

What's a realistic timeline?

At the time of the injury, it was speculated that it could be a 6-8 week window for his return. That was projected to put him back on the court at some point in late December, potentially allowing him to return prior to conference play ramping up in the new year.

Based on Davis' update, that timetable could still very much be in play. Given it isn't his dominant shooting hand, Trimble can essentially get his work in while rehabbing the injury in the process, it will just be a matter of when the injury is healed to the point where he's cleared for full contact activities.

Whenever his return ends up being, the UNC basketball program will receive a huge boost. Before the injury, Trimble was outstanding in his first two games of his senior season, as his ability on the court, along with his stellar leadership for the guys in the locker room, is missed more by the day.

The hope is that we'll continue to get positive updates, ultimately leading to him being cleared to play.
