The UNC football program received bad news, as star tight end Bryson Nesbit will be sidelined due to a fractured wrist.

According to Inside Carolina, Nesbit will need surgery on his injured wrist and will be sidelined indefinitely. Given his position (and role in the passing game) this could be an injury that sidelines him for the majority, if not the rest of, the 2024 season.

The senior from Charlotte, North Carolina is the Tar Heels' leading receiver, as he has recorded 24 catches for 264 yards and three scores. He's been targeted quite a bit, leading the team with 47 targets through seven games.

It's been a very rough go for the UNC football program over the last month. Heading into their bye week, the Tar Heels are riding a four-game losing streak after starting the season with three consecutive victories.

While it's too early to say how long Nesbit will be sidelined, his absence is a huge loss for the UNC football program. He's been the Tar Heels most consistent pass catcher and his ability to serve as a mismatch for opposing defenses helps North Carolina generate more open opportunities.

The hope is that Nesbit can rehab his injury and return to action at some point this season, especially given that it will be his final season on campus. As we already know, the UNC football program is better when he's on the field helping the offense move the football.
