Replacing the production of Kaimon Rucker and Beau Atkinson alone will be a daunting task for the UNC football program. The good news is, the spring transfer portal window is open for business, providing North Carolina with the opportunity to add some depth to their defensive line unit.

The Tar Heels got that process started on Thursday, securing a commitment from former Penn State EDGE Joseph Mupoyi.

A former four-star recruit from the Class of 2023, Mupoyi spent two seasons in Happy Valley. After redshirting his true freshman season, Mupoyi recorded one tackle in two games played during the 2024 campaign.

Looking for a better opportunity, Mupoyi entered his name into the transfer portal, following Smith Vilbert, his teammate and fellow defensive lineman at Penn State, to Chapel Hill.

With Mupoyi's addition, the UNC football program has now secured commitments from 9 players during the spring transfer portal period. The incoming list of players is currently as follows:

LB Mikai Gbayor- Missouri
WR Adrian Wilson- Colorado
P Jacob Horvath- Eastern Illinois
K Rece Verhoff- Marshall
QB Gio Lopez- South Alabama
RB Benjamin Hall- Michigan
WR Dayton Sneed- Tennessee
OL Jordan Hall- UAB
DL Joseph Mupoyi- Penn State

With more roster voids to fill, expect the UNC football program to remain active in the transfer portal. They will be focused on adding as much talent as they can in preparation for Bill Belichick's first season at the helm at North Carolina.
