Just last week, the UNC football program snagged a commitment from Arkansas transfer tight end Shamar Easter. While that addition was much-needed, the Tar Heels felt that more work needed to be done with regard to this season's tight end group.
On Monday, North Carolina took a step toward addressing the void, landing a commitment from transfer Jordan Owens.

A 6-foot-6, 255-pounder, Owens comes to Chapel Hill with some valuable experience under his belt. His college career began at Coffeyville Community College, a year in which he red-shirted. He then proceeded to transfer to Central Arkansas, spending three seasons there.
In three seasons with the Bears, Owens appeared in 32 games, recording a total of 29 passes for 248 yards and seven touchdowns. During the 2024 season, Owens set a career-high in both receptions (19) and yards (166), becoming more of a presence in Central Arkansas' offensive scheme.
Following the conclusion of the 2024 season, Owens entered the transfer portal, committing to Oklahoma State. After spending the spring with the Cowboys, Owens re-entered his name into the portal, taking official visits to New Mexico and North Carolina. Before he could make a trip to make an official visit to Missouri State, Owens decided to call Chapel Hill his home for his final season of college eligibility.
The UNC football program across the board will have a much different look this season, as the tight ends group is no exception. While the Tar Heels lost Bryson Nesbit and John Copenhaver, the new-look unit is starting to take form, as the depth chart features a handful of caliber players who could make a major impact for the program moving forward.
