The UNC football program has had its fair share of dynamic playmakers come through the program, as some top-tier wide receivers called Chapel Hill their college home.

In an effort to land the next wave of playmakers, the Tar Heels secured a commitment from four-star wide receiver Carnell Warren.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pounder becomes the second four-star wideout to commit to North Carolina, joining fellow four-star prospect Keeyun Chapman. Currently, Warren is regarded by 247Sports as the No. 8 overall prospect from the state of South Carolina.

Warren, a Bluffton, South Carolina native, originally committed to Virginia Tech just after the New Year. However, his recruitment took a major spin about a month ago, as he elected to reevaluate his options.

Once he de-committed from Virginia Tech, Warren received a good amount of interest from programs such as Michigan, Mississippi State, Penn State, and Wisconsin. His decision essentially came down to Virginia Tech and North Carolina, the lone schools to which he made official visits.

This is yet another big-time addition for the UNC football program, adding more talent to its 2026 recruiting haul. The Tar Heels have positioned themselves nicely with this particular recruiting class, one that has plenty of eyes on it given it's Bill Belichick and the new regime's first go-around in this process.

The questions about whether Belichick and the new-look staff could recruit have gone out the window, as their current crop of talent, a top-20 recruiting class, has spoken volumes of the movement the UNC football program has made in a very positive direction.
