The UNC football program made a HUGE addition to its 2025 roster on Wednesday afternoon, earning a commitment from Boise State transfer linebacker Andrew Simpson.

Since officially visiting Chapel Hill last month, Simpson was heavily tied to North Carolina. While he took his time exploring all of his options, Simpson has decided to spend his last season of college eligibility with the Tar Heels.

A 6-foot, 238-pound linebacker, Simpson appeared in 40 total games during his time at Boise State. Making 25 starts during that span, Simpson recorded150 Tackles, 36 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, six forced fumbles, five passes defensed, three interceptions and three fumble recoveries.

This is a major addition to the already impressive overhaul of the UNC football program's linebackers unit. Replacing guys like Power Echols and Amare Campbell is never easy, but Bill Belichick and the Tar Heels have done a nice job in acquiring players who are more than capable of filling the void.

Tar Heel fans should be excited to see what guys like Simpson and fellow linebacker transfer Khmori House can do in their first season wearing the Carolina Blue uniform. While essentially the entire team will have a much different look than we saw a season ago, there should be plenty of excitement to see what the new bunch can do in Bill Belichick's first season at the helm.

Make no mistake- while the media continues to salivate over Belichick's personal relationships, the UNC football program is putting together an impressive spring transfer portal recruiting class.

Maybe the attention should focus on what the Tar Heels are doing roster wise ahead of this historic season in Chapel Hill.
