Two weeks ago, Joel Wyatt decided to delay his scheduled July 6 announcement when the four-star athlete was expected to choose between in-state rivals Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

Wyatt, who was widely considered a heavy Tennessee lean, did not divulge too much information about why he made the decision to delay, but it looks like things could be coming into focus and that might be a positive for North Carolina.

There are a lot of questions about where Wyatt's recruitment is headed. Obviously, He hasn't reportedly taken any official visits outside of trips to Knoxville and Nashville. With recruiting currently in a quiet period, Wyatt could set up future trips for the fall.

Louisville extended an offer to Wyatt the day he decided to push back his announcement. That has led to speculation that the Cardinals are also going to be a player for Wyatt down the stretch.

Wyatt is a unique athlete that could seemingly fit into several different roles. Where he wants to play is another question that needs to be answered, and it could explain why he decided not to make a decision.

Wyatt could be the game-changing recruit UNC needs

At 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, Wyatt could be a big wide receiver or a big safety/linebacker hybrid, or possibly grow to be a tight end or an edge rusher.

UNC shot up to No. 19 overall in the recruiting rankings after the commitment of four-star wide receiver Keeyun Chapman. Adding another four-star prospect like Wyatt could move the Tar Heels' class closer to the top 15.

Wyatt would easily be the top prospect in UNC's class. He's rated among the top 50 players in the nation according to composite rankings. Wyatt is the No. 2 prospect in Tennessee.
