Add another 2026 commitment for Bill Belichick and the UNC football program!
The latest commitment comes from three-star edge rusher Ashton Blatt, a 6-foot-4, 230-pounder from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He became the 19th player from the Class of 2026 to commit to North Carolina and serves as the second edge rusher that the program had added among this group.

If you would've asked Blatt a little over a month ago, the rising senior likely wouldn't have mentioned North Carolina in the mix in his recruitment. In fact, the UNC football program wasn't involved until a little less than a month ago, as an official visit to Chapel Hill was enough to convince Blatt that North Carolina was the right place for him.
Blatt spoke to Inside Carolina regarding to commit to a program that showed late interest in him throughout this process:
"For me to commit there, and it was my most recent offer, that really shows what the program has going for it. That really shows how the coaching staff is really taking this. And they're taking this to the next level. And I saw that when I was there. I know they're going to do big things in the future, and I'm excited to be a part of it."
For those who say that Belichick isn't committed to North Carolina, or question whether him and his staff can attract talent, those questions seem to be answered each day that passes. From bringing in some talented players via the transfer portal to currently working on a recruiting haul from the Class of 2026, take note of what the UNC football program is doing.
This current regime has big plans for the program, and the student-athletes, both present and future, are buying in at a rapid pace.
