Bill Belichick and the UNC football program have their quarterback for the 2028 recruiting class.

Four-star quarterback Levi Kerr has committed to UNC, becoming the first prospect to join the Tar Heels' 2028 recruiting class.

Kerr's commitment comes after the highly-touted in-state prospect made back-to-back visits to Chapel Hill, including a return trip for Saturday night's showdown against No. 1 Miami.

Apparently, he saw everything he needed to see.

Levi Kerr becomes UNC's first commitment in the 2028 recruiting class

Kerr is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound quarterback from Marvin Ridge High School in Waxhaw, North Carolina.

He's also one of the top quarterback prlospects in his class, as 247Sports currently ranks him as the No. 223 overall prospect, No. 15 quarterback and No. 12 player in North Carolina in the 2028 recruiting class.

A high-rising prospect, Kerr's recruitment had already started to attract some major programs.

Michigan recently offered Kerr during his visit to Ann Arbor, while NC State, Mississippi State, Maryland, and others have also been involved in his recruitment. North Carolina, however, has been building this relationship for months.

The Tar Heels became one of the first Power Four programs to offer Kerr over the summer, and that early interest appears to have paid off in a major way.

Kerr made his first trip to Kenan Stadium when the Tar Heels hosted Duke on October 24. During that visit, Kerr spent time with Belichick as UNC continued to prioritize the in-state quarterback.

Seeing the Tar Heels bring home the Victory Bell was impressive, but Kerr wanted to see more of what Chapel Hill had to offer.

One week later, he was back on campus.

Kerr returned to Chapel Hill for UNC's Halloween night showdown against No. 1 Miami, giving the four-star quarterback another chance to experience the atmosphere around Belichick's program.

Now, Kerr has decided he's seen enough, wasting no time pledging to the Tar Heels.

Landing a quarterback is always an important first step toward building a recruiting class, especially when that quarterback is one of the better players in your own backyard. That's exactly what North Carolina has accomplished here.

Kerr gives Belichick and his staff an early centerpiece for the 2028 class and potentially someone who can help recruit other prospects to Chapel Hill over the next year.

There is obviously a LONG way to go before the 2028 recruiting cycle reaches the finish line, but every recruiting class has to start somewhere.

A four-star quarterback prospect who continues to rise up the recruiting ranks is quite the way to get a recruiting class started.

Let's face it: UNC is building something that high school prospects should definitely want to be part of down the road.
