UNC football is giving its legendary Hall of Famers a permanent home in Kenan Stadium

Kenan Stadium has witnessed plenty of legendary Tar Heels throughout its history.

This weekend, some of the greatest players and coaches to ever represent the UNC football program will have a permanent place inside the stadium.

UNC football is putting its rich history on display at Kenan Stadium

North Carolina will unveil two new permanent Hall of Fame displays during Saturday's matchup against No. 3-ranked Notre Dame, honoring the 12 Tar Heel legends inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, or, in some cases, both.

The College Football Hall of Fame display will be located in the northeast corner of Kenan Stadium, while UNC's Pro Football Hall of Famers will be honored in the southeast corner.

Some of the biggest names to ever come through Chapel Hill, including Charlie "Choo Choo" Justice, Lawrence Taylor, Julius Peppers, Dré Bly, and Mack Brown, will have an everlasting place in Kenan Stadium. This spot will remind Tar Heel faithful of the impact they made during their time at the University of North Carolina.

North Carolina has invited the Hall of Famers and their families back to Chapel Hill for a weekend-long celebration, including on-field recognition and the formal dedication of the new displays during the first half of the game. Halftime is expected to be jam-packed, as the Diamond Heels, fresh off their run to the 2026 College World Series Championship series, will also be recognized.

UNC football history is everywhere at Kenan Stadium, but permanently recognizing the Tar Heels who reached the sport's highest levels of the sport feels like a fitting addition. With a sold-out crowd expected for the matchup against Notre Dame, there probably isn't a much better time to unveil it.
