You really need to keep your head on a swivel to keep up with Bill Belichick's moves in the transfer portal. He's been awfully busy.
The UNC football program's latest addition? Michigan State wideout Aziah Johnson, originally from Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, VA.
This isn't the first time UNC has been involved with the 6-foot, 175-pound receiver. North Carolina offered him out of high school before losing out to MSU. But it's never too late to go where you should have in the first place (are you listening KC?)
Aziah Johnson spent two years in East Lansing, but preserved his redshirt by only appearing in four games during his rookie season. This season, he appeared in 12 games, totaling 16 receptions for 276 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson's catches weren't too plentiful, but he did gain chunks of yardage, something North Carolina struggled with some this season. He has some wiggle, too, demonstrated here with a touchdown against lower-level competition:
Aziah Johnson looks like the kind of prospect who can fit in with the Tar Heels without massively disrupting the development of younger players like Chris Culliver. He should be an excellent complimentary piece who, with some Belichick-ian development, could turn into a top-tier ACC receiver.
