A former four-star recruit, Robinson was originally committed to Texas before asking for his release a month later. From there, Robinson found a home at Florida, one that would last just one season.
As a true freshman in 2024, the 6-foot-3, 303-pound defensive lineman appeared in 11 games, recording 17 tackles, three tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Leading up to his sophomore season, Robinson was expected to see an increased role for the Gators' defense, but that plan quickly changed when Robinson elected to enter his name into the transfer portal.
While this is a big loss for the Florida Gators, it's a significant addition for the UNC football program. North Carolina's defensive line was depleted by both exhausted eligibility and the transfer portal. One of Belichick's biggest areas to address was finding players who can help solidify the front seven of the Tar Heels' defensive unit.
The personnel will be a lot different than a season ago, but the Tar Heels have added some quality depth who should play a major role in helping replace the lost production from a season ago.
North Carolina has made quite a few additions via the transfer portal but are likely not finished. With ample talent electing to leave Chapel Hill during the spring transfer portal window, the Tar Heels have some more holes to fill and will do their best to recoup some of the lost talent before the 2025 season gets underway.
