Coleman Bryson has played against the UNC football program twice during his early college career at Minnesota.

Now, he's ready to call Chapel Hill his next home.

Bill Belichick and the UNC football program have earned a commitment from Minnesota safety Coleman Bryson. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound defensive back will transfer to North Carolina with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Over three seasons with the Golden Gophers, Bryson recorded 54 tackles over a three-year span. During the 2022 season, Bryson appeared in five games, earning MVP honors for his efforts in the Pinstripe Bowl (seven tackles and a 70-yard pick six). He was able to secure a redshirt for this season even though he played a lot in the team's season finale at Yankee Stadium.

In 2023, Bryson recorded 25 tackles while playing a total of 219 snaps on defense (along with 248 on special teams). His 2024 season was very similar, as he recorded 20 tackles over 264 snaps at the safety position.

The UNC football program has now added 14 transfer additions this offseason, two of which will help the defensive backs group. With a good amount of talent from this positional group departing Chapel Hill, the Tar Heels will continue to monitor the transfer portal to see if there are any more potential fits to help improve the defense in 2025 and beyond.
