The revamping of the UNC football program's offensive line continues.
On Tuesday, North Carolina received a commitment from Jacksonville State offensive tackle Will O'Steen. The White Plains, Alabama native will have one season of college eligibility remaining.
Not many offensive linemen transfers (if any) have more game experience than O'Steen. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound lineman has started 37 games and has played over 2,700 snaps during his time at Jacksonville State, as he's coming off a season in which he allowed just two sacks and committed no penalties as the team's left tackle. He played a major role in helping Jacksonville State produce the country's second-best rushing offense.
O'Steen was considering the likes of South Carolina and West Virginia, but ultimately decided to spend his final collegiate season at the University of North Carolina.
You can never have enough depth in the trenches, something the UNC football program has been actively pursuing via the transfer portal. With eight offensive linemen departing Chapel Hill, seven transfers have now been brought in, as O'Steen joins UAB transfer Jordan Hall among the additions on the offensive line that have occurred thus far in the spring transfer portal window.
This is another important move for Bill Belichick and company. O'Steen has valuable experience that he can bring to the table for the program's new look offensive line unit.
