It was a battle between last week's No. 2 and No. 3-ranked squads in Chapel Hill this past weekend, a series won by the good guys in Carolina Blue.
Scott Forbes and the Diamond Heels put together an impressive weekend, securing two victories over the red-hot Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. While they didn't secure the series sweep, there were plenty of positives to take away from this weekend at Boshamer Stadium, most notably the fact that yes, this team is as good as advertised.
After winning the series, the expectation was that the Tar Heels would move up in the latest DIBaseball rankings, considering that they were the lower seed last week.
Well, it's confirmed that is the case, as the Diamond Heels leapfrogged the Yellow Jackets in the latest rankings.

North Carolina is one step closer to being considered the top team in the country, claiming the No. 2 spot in this week's Top 25 poll. Following the series loss to the Tar Heels, Georgia Tech dropped one spot to No. 3 on this week's list.
This marks as the Diamond Heels' best ranking since last season when they claimed the No. 1 overall spot for the first time in the history of the DIBaseball Top 25 Poll (which is now in its 12th season).
Of course, being considered a top-two team in the country is always a good thing. However, the job for Scott Forbes and the Tar Heels is far from finished, as the Diamond Heels aim to be the top team in the land by the time the 2026 season comes to a close.
For now, the focus remains on finishing out the regular season strong before postseason action gets underway in just a few short weeks.
