UNC closes out the regular season with a massive victory over rival Duke

The Tar Heels got their revenge from the loss they suffered in Durham a few weeks ago.

The UNC women's basketball program couldn't have asked for a better way to close out the 2025-2026 regular season!

On Senior Day in Chapel Hill, Courtney Banghart's team secured a victory over the No. 12-ranked Duke Blue Devils. The win serves as revenge for a loss the Tar Heels suffered in Durham, a game that was dictated by questionable officiating that led to UNC not attempting any free throws.

The playing ground was even on Sunday afternoon, and North Carolina proved they wear the better blue!

How about Elina Aarnisalo!

After a career-high 20 points at Virginia on Thursday night, Elina Aarnisalo showed that she's far from done when it comes to scoring buckets.

The sophomore guard scored a new career-high 22 points, knocking down four of her five three pointers, while adding seven rebounds and four assists to her impressive statline.

Aarnisalo, and fellow backcourt mate Lanie Grant, knocked down six of the Tar Heels eight three-pointers.

Nyla Harris has a Senior Day to remember

What an addition Harris was for this year's team, as it's sad that we only have one season of her wearing Carolina Blue!

The senior forward capped off her final college regular season in style, scoring 19 points while adding seven rebounds. She did a ton of damage at the free throw line, connecting on 9 of her 10 attempts at the charity stripe.

Indya Nivar does it all (just like she's done during her UNC career)

Nivar, in her final home game as a Tar Heel, filled up the stat sheet like we've grown so accustomed to seeing from her.

She ended the afternoon with 9 points, seven rebounds, five steals and two assists, making winning plays throughout to help the Tar Heels secure the victory.

Could there be more basketball at Carmichael Arena?

A win like this is huge in regards to the UNC women's basketball program's quest to host in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

If the Tar Heels can win a few games in the ACC Tournament this week, another year of hosting could be in the cards for Courtney Banghart and her squad.
