After losing two of three games in the Maui Invitational, it was expected that the UNC basketball program would drop in the latest AP Top 25 rankings.

Now, we know just how far the Tar Heels fell.

North Carolina dropped eight spots to No. 20 in this week's rankings. They are one of three ACC teams who made the cut this week, joining Duke (No. 9) and Pittsburgh (No. 18)

Fortunately, the UNC basketball program didn't face the biggest drop this week. Houston slid 11 spots from last week's rankings while UConn, who went winless in Maui, dropped an astounding 23 spots to No. 25, barely making the cut.

The good news is, the UNC basketball program will have a chance to get back on track this week. They host No. 10-ranked Alabama in the ACC/SEC Challenge, a game that definitely will impact the rankings by this time next week.

While it's important to not get caught up in the rankings, it is vital that the Tar Heels find a way to bounce back following a disappointing trip to Hawaii.
