Following a week in which they secured two victories, one being a top-25 ranked win, the UNC basketball program has moved up in the latest AP Top 25 Poll.

How far did the Tar Heels jump?

North Carolina jumped up two spots to No. 14. They remain the third-highest ranked ACC squad, trailing Duke (No. 3) and Louisville (No. 11).

The Virginia Cavaliers were the last of four ACC teams to make this week's cut, coming in at No. 24 in the latest rankings.

Just keep winning

While Kentucky, who the UNC basketball program beat this week when they were ranked, dropped out of the rankings, it's still a victory that has some value to it for the Tar Heels as they look to continue building upon their early-season success.

The victory over Georgetown is an underrated win as well. Even though Ed Cooley and company are struggling to stay healthy, the Hoyas strong start to the season has them in contention to compete for an NCAA Tournament berth down the road, especially if they get healthy at some point during conference play.

A strong stretch without Seth

Since Seth Trimble went down with his injury, the UNC basketball program has simply held it down in his absence.

Of the seven games they've played, the Tar Heels have won six of them, as the lone loss came to the Michigan State Spartans, one of the nation's top overall squads.

While Trimble is a considerable loss (and his return is highly anticipated), give credit to this group for taking care of business. Many thought the Tar Heels might falter a bit during his absence, but they have continued to prove they have a very good squad this season.

Once Trimble returns, it's scary to think just how good this team could be.
